The current covid-19 situation has been an opportunity to
look at how we provide our charts, as we have not been able to enter a post
office either at all or very safely for nearly three months now.
Since we started this website and began creating our
patterns way back in 2003 we have always resisted providing our charts in pdf
format, as we felt that by printing them and physically mailing them to
customers was a way of differentiating ourselves from other suppliers.
It has become increasingly unrealistic to continue to send
out physical copies. In the last 17 years we have only increased our prices
twice, from $11.99 to $13.99 for sets of three charts and in that time, we have
had to absorb continual rises in mailing costs and costs of paper and packaging.
So, with some regrets, mostly from a sense of lost
traditions, we will be moving to providing pdf versions only with immediate
effect. Customers based in the US and Canada will be emailed the charts in US
letter size and customers in Europe and the rest of the world will be emailed
them in A4 size, unless they request otherwise.
Ultimately this is also a chance to review our pricing and tradition
of selling the charts in sets of three or four, which we chose to do in order
to keep mailing costs down, allowing us to offer big discounts for purchases of
multiple sets. We may even change to offering the charts individually, but that
is for another day.
It will take some
weeks to change all our web pages to
reflect the changes but please bear with us and if you order a set for which
the description has not yet been updated, don’t worry, we will get in touch by
email and make sure you are happy to receive them by pdf, before we send them
out.
